First Tee School Program PE Teacher Honored for Impacting Youth and the Game of Golf in her State.

Pam Hoiland, a recently retired physical educator in Sioux Falls, is being inducted into the 2020 South Dakota Golf Association Hall of Fame! Pam has been involved in golf since she was a little girl growing up across the road from the Luverne Country Club. She enjoys playing the game just as much as teaching it. During her time as a physical educator, Pam tied in that love for golf by teaching a First Tee unit in her classes saying, “I love getting kids excited about the game of golf. They love the fun little games we play and, of course, the chance to hit the ball far! In our school program, we set up little putting stations and the smiles on their faces when they get a hole-in-one are PRICELESS! We have fun!” Pam has won seven SDGA championships in her career, including a Women’s Senior Championship and 6 Two-Woman titles. In addition to her SDGA victories, Pam coached boys high school golf at Roosevelt, winning 2 State AA Team Championships. For over 40 years, she has been involved with the junior golf program at The Country Club of Sioux Falls. She has given back to the First Tee—South Dakota and to the SDGA in many ways, including her service on the Board and serving as Board President. First Tee—South Dakota has been fortunate to have Ms. Hoiland teaching the youth in our elementary schools over the past 12 years. Hooray for Ms. Hoiland - 2020 SDGA Hall of Fame!
