2024 South Dakota Golf Association Scholarship Winners
Allison Meyerink
Allison has been a leader on her Mitchell high school golf team for the last several years. In 2024, she won the Individual State Title for the AA High School tournament (team finished 2nd). Allison will be attending Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, playing both golf and basketball. Her intended degree is in Nursing. Allison says “Golf requires precision, confidence, and a whole lot of practice. I have learned that golf does not come easy, so you must put in the time and work for it. Being at the golf course for hours a day, practicing, playing, and working shows the dedication and love that I have for the game”.
Allison loves the people she has met along the way, everyone showing her kindness, respect, and friendly competition.
Dakota Munger
Dakota grew up in Chamberlain and will be furthering his academic at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. Dakota will be playing dual sports at DWU, both golf and baseball. He will be majoring in Sports Management/Fitness. Dakota said, “The game of golf has impacted my life in several ways and has taught me many life lessons along the way. I did not start playing golf until my seventh-grade year and it is a game I will continue to play for as long as I can. I fell in love with golf immediately after my first swing and that love for the game will never depart. On the golf course you get out what you put in. If you practice for hours and hours, you will steadily get better because of the hard work that goes into it. Golf has taught me that to achieve something special you must work extremely hard to get there. Both golf and life reward you for what you put in and that has stuck with me throughout my life.”
Delilah Fuls
Delilah will be continuing her academic and golf career at the University of Sioux Falls. Delilah graduated from Brookings High School and her intended area of study is Radiology/ Radiology Technician. Delilah, who began playing golf at 5, has always dreamed of becoming a collegiate golfer. She said that golf has given her so many relationships, given her a high sense of integrity and respect that have helped guide her interactions off the course as well.
Elijah Anema
Elijah is a graduate of Sioux Falls Christian and will be studying Biblical Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Elijah said that he has gained maturity and overall better mental thinking and health through the game of golf. Being a dual sport student, he has also learned a lot about discipline. Between golf and soccer, he developed a practice plan that has allowed him to succeed in both. Golf has allowed Elijah to grow as a person and given him an outlet to glorify God through the talents he gave him.
Jackson Skuodas
Jackson, from Sioux Falls, graduated from Sioux Falls Lincoln High School. Jackson has a love for chemistry and will be pursuing a biology degree at Augustana University. Jackson didn’t start out playing golf at a young age, however, since he learned how to play, he spends almost all his free time playing or practicing. Jackson said that golf has taught him a lot about perseverance and the importance of “its ok to struggle” as long as you keep going. Since the game can be difficult it has also taught him about hard work.
Megan Christoffels
Megan will be attending South Dakota State University (EARS UP) in the fall with an intended degree in Animal Sciences. Megan graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls. Megan didn’t start playing until 7 th grade and didn’t think it would open so many opportunities for her. She loves to compete, and it provided her with a good high school/summer job. Golf has taught Megan many lessons, but the one she cherishes the most is integrity.
Morgan Jones
Morgan is from Aberdeen and a graduate of Aberdeen Central High School. In the fall, Morgan will be attending South Dakota State University. She would like to study Radiology or Medical Laboratory Sciences. Over the years Morgan played many sports, but only continues to play varsity golf and varsity hockey. Morgan is excited about her areas of study as they will her to have a direct impact on her community while working in a field that is always changing and always needing more help.
Quinn Dannenbring
Quinn grew up in Mitchell and was part of the Mitchell team that finished 2nd in the state golf tournament. Quinn will be attending the University of Sioux Falls with a focus in History and Political Sciences. Quinn said, “As any golfer knows, the significance of the game does not lie within the numbers on the scorecard. The significance lies within how well a golfer perseveres through the bad holes and maintains optimism. The amount of life lessons I have learned from the game of golf truly does not compare to any other sport. From golf, I have learned independence, perseverance, and discipline which are skills that will greatly assist me in my future endeavors.”
