In 2024, First Tee was brought to the Pine Ridge Reservation by John Long. To recognize Long and his efforts at Pine Ridge, in 2025, the Golf Journal did an article in their Spring 2025 publication. What is the USGA?
The USGA is more than just golf’s governing body in the United States. We are the game’s most steadfast advocate and protector. Our programs step up to the myriad challenges and opportunities facing golf and its future — reducing the amount of water it takes to keep a course in optimal playing condition, shepherding the rules and maintaining golf’s traditions and heritage, and providing pathways to competition for all through our Open and Amateur championships.
No organization does more for golf, and USGA members are our biggest supporters. Join us today as we:
- Develop innovations that help keep the game environmentally and financially stable while ensuring the golfer experience remains positive;
- Preserve the amateur game so that it continues to provide an open opportunity for golfers to achieve greatness and inspire others;
- Maintain the game’s remarkable history and guarantee that it continues to be shared and celebrated through our USGA Golf Museum and other programs and initiatives; and
- Make golf more welcoming through opportunities for men and women, juniors and seniors, and for all who want to play the game.
- Start your membership now, at the level that is best for you.
